Moves, repairs, new patching, and provider changes should update documentation at the same time as the physical work. If the record is updated weeks later, it will be wrong when the incident happens.
Photos and test reports help anchor the record in reality.
Connect To Operations
Fiber documentation should feed runbooks, monitoring, and change planning.
When a link alert fires, the team should know the physical path quickly. When a maintenance window is planned, the team should know which services share the route. When a provider proposes a second circuit, the team should verify diversity.
Source of truth is not a wiki page. It is operational infrastructure.
